A Talented Artist

I have a friend, though we have not met in person yet, who is a talented artist. Penelope lives here on Moloka'i and is enjoying retirement. She is a slave to many cats. She was generous enough to share her art with me, and I asked if I could put it on my blog. It is so wonderful I have to share it with you all!

Lost in Alamo

One story I never shared about my trip to Maui with Lucas (see his story here) happened at the Alamo rental car station at the Kahului Airport.

I had rented my car, loaded it up with Lucas and my suitcase, and started to drive off the lot. When I looked down, I saw that the engine light was on. The guy at the booth told me to drive around to the drop off road and have the mechanic reset something in the computer.

I drove around and talked to the Alamo guy, who went to find a mechanic. I looked to the left and saw this extremely gorgeous cat walking about five feet beside me. This cat was no stray or feral! He was even chubby so he had been eating well not too long before! The problem is, there really aren't houses close to the airport. I knew he had been dumped or he was lost. I actually tried to nab him but he went into the bushes. Then I had to do some paperwork. I went back but he wasn't there. I had planned on "throwing" him in the car and bringing him to the humane society where they could scan for a microchip.

I still really regret that I didn't move fast enough the first time I saw him! I think I should keep canned food and a carrier in my car 24/7 when I move.

Strays Purr Too

This blog will tell the story of each stray that I have rescued and those that I will help in the future. Not everybody gets what a cat is all about, but I do, and I have dedicated a portion of my life to help as many "purrs and meows" as I can whether they are abandoned, neglected, abused, forgotton or homeless.

I hope you enjoy meeting each cat and that it inspires you or encourages you in your own rescue efforts. Please share your stories, resources, and experiences with me as well!
